An infographic is a fancy name for a graphical representation of quantitative information (stuff you can count or measure) in an easy-to-understand, illustrated fashion. Usually there is a single theme that includes an extended laundry list of related subtopics that consists primarily of colorful graphics, oversized numbers and minimal text.
For example, instead of stating “4 out of 5 dentists recommend sugar-free gum,” you can show an illustration of 4 smiling dentists holding a package of gum and one frowning dentist with no gum.
Infographics have been used for years, but now instead of sprinkling them in a presentation or report, you can create an entire poster, slide or document containing a compelling set of information, e.g. “The Technology Evolution.”
