10 Aug How to Create a Personal LinkedIn URL
One of the questions I’m asked most frequently is how to edit your generic LinkedIn URL to create a personalized link for your LinkedIn profile.
For example, let’s say I want to include my LinkedIn profile URL to my resume. Instead of an auto-generated URL such as “https://www.linkedin.com/in/kblue39482039481298,” I prefer “www.linkedin.com/in/karenbluestein.”
To Edit Your LinkedIn URL
1. Log in to LinkedIn and view your profile.
2. On the upper right of your profile screen, you’ll see a menu with 3 options. Click the second option, Edit your public profile.
3. The next page will display your public profile settings. On the upper right, under Edit public profile URL, click the little blue pencil.
4. Type your desired personal URL (typically firstnamelastname). The system will alert you if your URL is unavailable.
5. Click Save.
That’s it! Now you have an easy-to-remember personalized link to your profile.
URL (Uniform Resource Locator) – The unique address you type into your browser to get to a particular web site or page. For example: http://www.carycommunications.com.
